BURLINGTON, MA—If you have diabetes or risk of developing diabetes (pre-diabetes), you must , you must attend Dr. Om Ganda’s talk at the Health, Fitness & Wellness Expo on Sunday at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA. Dr. Ganda, medical director of the Lipid Clinic, and Chair of the Clinical Oversight Committee at Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, says Type 2 diabetes is a preventable condition.
“Studies have proven that Type 2 diabetes is a preventable condition. It is at least 60 percent lifestyle. Don’t blame it on your DNA alone–that plays a minor part,” says Dr. Ganda, who at the expo will be joined by Dr. Neelima Singh, MD, a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
He says technology advances are making diabetes management easier:
- Keeping blood glucose log in your smart phone
- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Smart Insulin pumps.
“You can’t control diabetes well, even with the latest medications, without maintaining practical lifestyle changes,” says Dr. Ganda. “Goals for A1C, cholesterol, blood pressure are not the same for everyone. They need to be personalized.”
