With 50 speakers and many new panels, free Mega Health Expo Set for April 3

WALTHAM, MA— With 50 speakers and many new panels, INE MultiMedia announced that its Fourth Annual Mega Health Expo catered to Indian and South Asian population in New England, will be held on Sunday, April 3, at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.

The day-long Health Expo, which was attended by approximately 2,500 people last year, is free to all attendees and is organized in collaboration with INDIA New England News, the region’s largest and oldest print, online and video magazine.

INE MultiMedia, a non-profit company devoted to education, empowerment, enrichment and entertainment, also announced that it has expanded its core organizing team this year and has added Dr. Deepa Jhaveri, a podiatrist at Lahey Health in Danvers, MA, as Associate Director of the Workshops.

Anu Chitrapu, a senior vice president and executive at Bank of America who holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, leads the workshops and at the Expo and serves as its director. Dr. Apurv Gupta, MD, a former president and trustee of Indian Medical Association of New England (IMANE), will serve as moderator-in-chief.

“We are excited to have Deepa join Anu and me,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, MD, chair of the Health Expo, past president of IMANE, and president of INE MultiMedia. “Speakers and topics have lined up nicely and we are looking forward to welcoming and educating our community about health issues and how to stay fit.”

The Health Expo is sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, a not-for-profit health plan that provides a variety of insurance plan options and self-funding arrangements to more than one million members in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

“The Health Expo has now become an annual tradition in New England,” said Dr. Sheth. “As always we will bring updated information related to important topics like heart disease and diabetes and also present new topics.”

She said there will be some new and some old speakers and some new and old topics for both modern and alternative medicines. There will also be several enriching segments and programs on overall wellness and fitness. IMANE will provide free health screenings at the Health Expo.

One of the new panels that has been added this year is on gastrointestinal diseases, Dr. Sheth said. Some of the speakers for this panel Dr. Naveen Pandaraboyina, a board certified gastroenterologist and an attending physician in gastroenterology and hepatology at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, MA, and Dr. Vijay Yajnik, MD, an attending physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital Digestive Healthcare Center and Mass General’s Crohn’s and Colitis Center.

The Fourth Annual Expo will focus on modern as well as alternative medicines and offer a number of interactive workshops on sports, music and dance therapy and yoga and meditation, among others. It will feature some of the most renowned health care providers of the area, including Dr. Salil Midha, Dr. Umakanth Khatwa, Dr. Om Ganda, Sangeeta Pradhan, Dr. Chaitanya Mudgal, Dr. Gleeson Rebello, Dr. Dinesh Patel, Dr. Sonal Pandya, Dr. Rosy Sandhu, Dr. Hetal Verma, Dr. Manasaa Patna, Dr. Tara Singh, Dr. Anand Kanjolia, Dr. Sonal Mankodi, Dr. Smita Patel, Dr. Sameer Kapasi, and Dr. Sharmila Mudgal, Dr. Nitingna Desai, Dr. Shalini Mansharamani and Dr. Nilima Singh, among others.

Given the great response last year, the expo will also host a panel discussion on Medical Entrepreneurship.
