WALTHAM, MA — The free Health & Wellness Expo, aimed at educating the Indian and South Asian community about common diseases and their prevention, is all set for this Sunday, April 20, at the Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.
The free Health Expo, which is scheduled to start at 9:00 am, is organized by INDIA New England News, the region’s largest and oldest print and online newspaper serving the South Asian community and is sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare, Emerson Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Health Care, Bournewood Health Systems, The Mishra Group, Inc. and the Burlington Marriott Hotel. The registration will start at 8:00 am.
More than 40 speakers are scheduled to speak during the day-long conference, which will host 35 plenary medical sessions and workshops, 25 exhibitors and about 1,000 attendees.
“Educating people on health-related topic is always an important mission for every physician. It was also my goal last year as president of the Indian Medical Association of New England that led to a very successful first free mega health expo in 2013 in collaboration with INDIA New England News,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, who once again is chairing this year’s Expo. “It also inspired us to bring it back on a yearly basis to our community. We carefully evaluated the feedback from past attendees and have added a dental segment, interactive workshops and a panel discussion by holistic and alternative medicine health care providers. I have always believed that optimum health is a collaborative effort. Our sincere thanks to all our wonderful speakers, moderators, presenters ,exhibitors ,sponsors and our community in supporting this important educational effort. Dr. Sanjiv Chopra, Professor of Medicine, Faculty Dean of Continuing Medical Education at Harvard Medical School, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Dr. Chopra leads the most robust academic Continuing Medical Education enterprise in the world, reaching out to 80,000 clinicians and 150 countries each year. Other main speakers at the Expo include Dr. Dinesh Patel, Chief of Arthroscopic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School; Dr. Om Ganda, Director of Lipid Clinic at Joslin Diabetes; Dr. Salil Midha, President of Boston Cardiac Foundation and Chief of Cardiology at Melrose Wakefield Hospital; and Dr. Sonal Pandya, Co-Director of the Lahey Lexington Center for Plastic and Laser Surgery Group of Lahey Health.
